Mobile Broadband Phone, HP TouchPad

Don't get all excited, though, and jump to any crazy conclusions about HP resurrecting the TouchPad.
HP issued a statement today explaining the current outlook for TouchPad tablets. HP is making another batch of TouchPad tablets, but don't get all excited. The announcement has led many to speculate that perhaps HP is having second thoughts about killing the TouchPad, and that it might get back into the tablet business after all. But, the TouchPad is not coming back--at least not from HP. A report from DigiTimes Systems claims upstream suppliers are not happy about getting stuck with TouchPad component inventory. The story cites HP sources stating, "The suppliers are currently in negotiation with HP to find a solution for the component inventory, while HP Taiwan pointed out will maintain its promise to the partners."

Mobile Broadband Carrier offering iPhone 5 from Apple

Current unlocked iPhone 4 units can only operate at 2G 'edge' speeds on T-Mobile's network, and lack certain network-dependent features, such as Visual Voicemail," said Kunzler.
While the T-Mobile source reportedly speculated on the iPhone's potential impact for T-Mobile's bottom line, such speculation may ring hollow if a pending acquisition by AT&T moves forward. Apple does sell the iPhone 4 as an unlocked device, and could very well do the same with the iPhone 5, but these carrier-specific versions of the device may yet come locked to the reselling carrier's network.

That letter contained details about AT&T's plans to expand its HSPA+ and LTE rollout and included information that wasn't supposed to be viewable by the general public. According to the document, filed with the FCC on August 8, AT&T estimated that it would have needed to invest $3.8 billion to "expand LTE coverage from 80 to 97 percent of the U.S. population. AT&T senior management concluded that it could not justify expanding its LTE footprint beyond the Plan of Record, despite the potential marketing and competitive benefits of doing so," the letter reads. Soon after the unredacted letter was posted on the FCC Web site, it was taken down at AT&T's request.
