Sprint Makes Push-To-Talk Possible on More of its Phones With Downloadable Application – January 3
Sprint, the industry’s push-to-talk pioneer, announced it has added more Sprint Direct Connect-capable handsets to its push-to-talk portfolio. On the new phones, push-to-talk service can be installed quickly by accessing the Google Play store and downloading the free “Sprint Direct Connect Now” application.
Sprint to Support White House ConnectED Initiative by Connecting 50,000 K-12 Students Nationwide with High-Speed Wireless Service – February 4
Sprint CEO Dan Hesse and Sprint Chairman Masayoshi Son joined other leaders in the technology and telecommunications industry in announcing its in-kind support of the White House ConnectED initiative, a public and private effort to get technology into classrooms and into the hands of teachers and students. Beginning Sept. 1, 2014, Sprint will begin a four-year commitment to provide wireless broadband connectivity for 50,000 low-income K-12 students across the U.S.
“The Crossover” from Sprint Takes Fans Beyond the Court With NBA Players – February 5
Sprint introduces “The Crossover,” a video series featuring stories about NBA players that takes fans beyond the game and gives them an inside look at players’ lives beyond the court. Each week through May 29, Sprint will feature one to two NBA players, providing fans a look into their lives through untold stories. With “The Crossover,” fans will get to know more about their favorite players, including their personalities, family life, and how their passions outside basketball affect their lives as professional athletes.

Sprint will deploy hydrogen fuel cell technology as backup power to rooftop network sites with financial assistance from the Department of Energy (DOE). The solution should allow for lower network site maintenance and cleaner network energy sources and will increase network survivability during power outages.
